And the winner is...

No one :-)

I received close to 150 submissions, some containing up to 17 name proposals, and I want to thank you folks for every single one of them. Some were brilliant, some were “meh”, but roughly half of them were suggesting that I should stick to snega2usb. Well then, so the naming contest has no winner, except myself perhaps. But that won’t keep me from giving a prototype to a random contestant. Congratulations to Adam W from Beverly Hills, California, USA! To all others, I am sorry you will have to wait until the day when there are snega2usbs for everyone. Meanwhile, perhaps some high-res/vector logos will ease the pain. Why don’t you go out and print a shirt; here are a few suggestions.

black logo on white

EPS (black), PNG (black). This works best with dark print on light background.

I guess I missed out on the whole window for submission. Now the email address is removed.

I can suggest some very usable names that I think you’d like…

I know I shouldn’t put them here, because they might be harvested by bots that register / squat on domain names.

How should I submit my suggestions to you?

Not to get too distracted on things that aren’t important…

but just was realizing — you are missing a really great feature on a device that let’s me connect old gaming console ROM carts to a PC via USB: allow me to connect old gaming joysticks on the same board…

if you have a funky plastic enclosure, offer a “Deluxe Version!” that includes joystick inputs for the same cart systems…

you *will* sell a lot of ‘em.

Eh.. I suppose it would depend on what it would do to the price. Wouldn’t be worth it, if it were much more than an extra $5.. you can get SNES/USB controller adapters pretty cheap.

I think he’s gonna sell lots of em without controller support.

I’m going to add a cartridge slot to the top of my case, so I don’t think I need a plastic enclosure. :D

      • I added a bunch of extra wires on the board that let you connect up to 4 SNES gamepads. (Firmware support pending). Perhaps DIYers will appreciate having this possibility at virtually no extra cost.

    wow… that was anticlimactic

  • Would be nice to know what some of your favourites were though….

Well that was a bit of a let down. All this waiting and watching and thinking up cool names and it ends up just being a random person.

    • So what would you expect me to do in this situation? As you may imagine, it is hard to pick someone, without most of the other contestants being mad at them, and me. Also, I found it silly to publish a ranked list of entries, none of which would become the future name of the project. You might want to know that I did try to honor your effort by weighting your entry with the number of suggestions you submitted (logos counted double). This is the fairest solution I could come up with, and I am sorry for those who were disappointed. Rest assured your effort is not forgotten.
