You may remember that naming contest where I couldn’t quite make up my mind and ended up sticking to the old name. Well, with a little delay, I finally decided to rename the project after all. Back then, [Fydo] had come up with a couple of particularly nice suggestions, among them “Retrode” which has kept on haunting me ever since.
I took the liberty of adding a colon for that extra bit of graphical hipness, so Re:trode it is from now on. Here are some reasons why I like this one a lot:
- It’s short.
- It’s catchy.
- It’s pronounceable.
- It kind of makes sense. This device is some sort of an “electrode” to connect to “retro” stuff. Plus, as [JesseV] points out, we’re all gonna be retro’d by it. Hence: Retrode.
- It looks daaaaamn good next to that logo. See:
(That’s right: I even went and bought fonts of matching stroke width :))
Being the lazy guy I am, I used the “find-and-replace” hammer on all previous posts, which will cause severe temporal paradoxa, so it’s more than likely that we’re all going to be trapped in a time loop with no escape. You will know when you’re in there. By the way, of course [Fydo] will get his very own Retrode, after all he’s another winner of the contest. Thanks again, [Fydo] – awesome job!
